Lovely Bex | A Halfpenny London bride

Gorgeous couple Bex and Oli tied the knot in December last year. Originally, they’d planned a destination wedding for June 2020 in a sunny and rustic French bastide but, after 4 failed attempts thanks to COVID-19, they decided to pivot their plans and went ahead with a beautiful winter wedding in Warwickshire.

“We wanted it to be completely different to our relaxed French wedding, so made the dress code black tie. It was amazing to see everyone glammed up after so many months in lockdown. We switched Provence rosé for espresso martinis, added hanging bulb lights from the starlit roof and decorated the tables with dark red and cafe latte roses, green and black candles, and gold rimmed tableware.

I had absolutely no idea what I wanted for my wedding dress, so shopped around (literally) everywhere. I thought I wanted something casual and simple, but kept coming back to separates or waisted dresses. So, when I visited Halfpenny I was spoilt for choice and it was clear that my look was going to be from the Woburn Walk boutique. The team were really helpful and patient with my indecisiveness! I decided that it was between two or three options but couldn’t put my finger on it.”

I had the pleasure of meeting Bex at the boutique and loved her style. I suggested she try on something a but different: the sequinned Alexander corset from our Fly Me to the Moon collection

“It wasn’t quite the simple and casual look I was going for (!) but when I tried it on I loved it, and thought when else am I going to be able to wear a sequin corset! After that the whole understated look I originally planned for went out the window and I chose the ivory Ladbroke skirt with a long train, and a cathedral veil. Maybe it was quite serendipitous that our wedding was eventually in the UK, as the final look transitioned really well to a Black Tie winter wonderland event!”

It seems to me that it was meant to be! Bex had a very special Something Borrowed from a friend - and fellow Halfpenny London bride…

“After moving the wedding from summer - where it would potentially be quite hot - to a winter wedding in England, I was concerned I might be cold with the corset on. I also wanted to add a cover up to transition from day ceremony to glam evening party. I met up for breakfast with a friend of mine - Jess - who suggested I borrow her Halfpenny Manet shrug. She had worn it for her winter wedding in 2019 and looked amazing, so I took her up on the offer.”

Bex looked utterly incredible on her big day and I’m thrilled to have played a small part in her special big day. Wishing the couple all the very best in their new lives together!

Love,
