We’ve had the most wonderful day at the atelier today.  It’s London Craft Week and I decided to host two intimate workshops giving an exclusive glimpse behind-the-scenes of Halfpenny London.  Two groups of lovely curious people came to the atelier and I talked them through the journey of my top-secret 'Songbird' collection (coming this Autumn)…

The Painter collection by Halfpenny London celebrates the intrigue of the subject, the passion of the artist and the beauty of the finished masterpiece in equal measure. Inspired by the art of La Belle Époque, the painter collection is overflowing with sumptuous fabrics and exquisite detailing.

My wonderful mum’s influence on me is profound and far-reaching.  Josephine was a knitwear designer and my design career started when I used to sit under her table when I was little, gathering up all of her scraps of wool and fabric to make dresses for my dolls.

When Millie and I started to talk about what she was going to wear to the BAFTA’s, I couldn’t wait to get started!  After designing Millie’s delicious wedding dress I have a strong sense of her likes and dislikes.  Millie’s personal style is so defined and it was a pleasure to work with her for such a special night.
