Millie Mackintosh BAFTA gown | Behind the scenes

When Millie and I started to talk about what she was going to wear to the BAFTA’s, I couldn’t wait to get started!  After designing Millie’s delicious wedding dress I have a strong sense of her likes and dislikes.  Millie’s personal style is so defined and it was a pleasure to work with her for such a special night.

I designed the Mayfair dress for The Air That We Breathe collection.  It’s the organza gown of my childhood dreams!  Those incredible sleeves are to die for and the frills of silk organza on the light-as-a-feather skirt…  Delicious!  We decided to use the most wonderful nougat pink fabric for Millie’s dress which looked incredible next to Millie’s skin.

The gown features a stretch Duchess satin fit and flare shape which showed off Millie’s killer figure.  The frothy top layer is silk organza which has just the right amount of weight to stay bouncy and fluid but hold it’s wonderful shape.

Check out the video below for a behind the scenes look at the making of Millie’s dress in our Bloomsbury atelier, including a sneak peek into her fitting and the big night of the BAFTA awards.
