Beautiful Sarah | A real Halfpenny London bride

Lovely Sarah's wedding is featured over on Love My Dress at the moment.  She married her new husband Alex on a summer’s day on the 25th July 2015. The service was held at St James’ Church in Stedham, West Sussex, with the reception at Sarah’s parents home where she grew up in Woolbeding, West Sussex.

“I’d always wanted to get married from home. It felt incredibly special being able to travel from my childhood home to the local church and it was lovely to be able to share the garden with all our friends and family. We both wanted to have a relaxed and fun day with family and friends.”

Sarah chose our embellished Marianne design, with a beautiful embellished beaded cap-sleeved bodice, for its comfortable fit and vintage, yet modern feel.

“I found the first few visits to bridal stores rather uncomfortable – although everyone was lovely all the dresses either felt too formal, or too revealing in one case, and none of them felt really me. I came across Halfpenny London through an image on Pinterest of the actress Emilia Fox wearing a beautiful lace dress with a blue sash.  A few minutes on their website convinced me that the shop was definitely worth a visit. The ‘Marianne’ dress was hanging in the window and was the first dress I noticed.  Having found lots of contenders I was persuaded by my mother that it was ok ‘just to try it on’. I’d like to say that that was it, but as I’m one of the world’s most indecisive people I was initially torn between a few different options.  However, when I went back a few weeks later and put it on I remembered exactly how beautiful and how unusual it was – a vintage feel but with a modern edge which was exactly what I had been looking for. And I felt completely comfortable in it. I’m so grateful to my mother and maid of honour, Anna, for convincing me that it was the right decision.”

We LOVE Sarah's radiant wedding look and we're so happy she found her dream wedding dress with us.

Congratulations Sarah & Alex!  All the very best from all of us at Halfpenny London.

Beautiful Ella | A real Halfpenny London bride

Halfpenny LondonComment

Beautiful bride Ella came to us looking for the perfect wedding dress to fit into her plans for a relaxed, fun wedding.  Our Marianne dress turned out to be everything she was looking for!

"I didn’t choose the dress I thought I would! I thought I would go for a lace dress and ended up with a beaded dress. It just felt really special and different, I hadn’t seen anything like it before."

Ella fell in love with Marianne's embellished, beaded cap sleeved bodice with the soft tulle skirt worn on top of of a V neck ivory satin slip.

"I already love embroidery and beaded details on my everyday clothes so I was drawn to the dress. I also had seen a picture of it on Pinterest on a hanger and had pinned it ages ago! So I knew I wanted to try it on just to see, but I never thought something like that would look good on me. The other dresses were beautiful but felt just like that - a dress. This one made me feel like a bride! "

We're thrilled Ella found her dream dress with us and we think she looks utterly gorgeous.

Huge congratulations to Ella and her new husband from everyone at Halfpenny London!

Stunning Katie | A real Halfpenny London Bride

Halfpenny LondonComment

We absolutely loved working with this week's real Halfpenny London bride Katie!  She has become a friend since meeting her to design her wedding dress and was just an utter joy to work with and such a gorgeous bride.  We were thrilled when her wedding pictures dropped into our inbox.

She wore the Marianne hand beaded & embroidered tulle dress and we think she looks utterly stunning! She also had the Annabel French lace tee to change into for dancing in the evening!

This is what Katie had to say about her Halfpenny London experience:

"Where to begin with the wonderful Halfpenny Team...

Fist of all I'm a Geordie girl in big old London.. And somewhat of an anti- bride. I'm not traditional at all and I love my clothes.. So I was looking for a fashionable look and not an obviously 'bridal' dress."

"Our wedding was at Aynhoe Park which is an incredible stately home filled with a magical, eccentric and dramatic collection that cannot be described unless you see it.

My dress or dresses had to fit into a venue where there is a giant giraffe is suspended by a bunch of white balloons...need I say more.

So onto the wonderful Kate and her boutique. I was sent to Kate by a friend and I am so pleased that I did as she is now a friend and the whole experience was just incredible.

I'd been to many of the obvious places - high end and mid range and I generally felt like another bride and was not inspired by the boutiques, the dresses or the accessories..

When I arrived at Halfpenny London the window was styled beautifully as was the shop and when Kate started to pull out the heavy silk slips, stunning appliquéd skirts and vintage lace t shirts I knew I'd found the place.

The whole team are kind, passionate, stylish and have an eye for detail that makes the difference between looking good and looking incredible.

I opted for two looks in the end all based around a heavy backless slip that could be worn alone (and I will wear it again one day with a red lip, high heel and a glass of champagne!)

The first look and overlay was just stunning and perfect for Ayhnoe Park. Capped sleeves, encrusted, embroidered with intricate detail that made it feel magical."

"The second look was more relaxed for the real party. I wore a beautiful vintage tee over the slip. I changed my feather headpiece for another stunning bespoke Debbie Carlisle jewelled piece, scooped my hair into a messy bun, piled on the vintage stack of bracelet from Kate's boutique and topped the look with a red lip."

"Kate and the girls are not your regular bridal team. I felt so welcome, as did my friends and family. The boutique homes a curated selection of stunning, hand crafted pieces that will make you feel nothing short of perfect on your wedding day.

I genuinely felt cared for. The girls not only styled and dressed me for the day- they were invested in it! They wanted me to rock it. And I think I did them proud...

Thank you so much for your kind words Katie!  We wish you all the love and luck in the world! xx
