Gorgeous Leah | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Beautiful bride Leah and her new husband Harry married last September in the beautiful setting of Bruisyard Hall, Saxmundham which was perfect for their autumn inspired celebrations which included a few nods to Leah’s family’s Caribbean roots.

Leah came to see us at our Bloomsbury boutique and chose a stellar combination of our Andrea corset and feathered Swan skirt.

“I was quite keen on finding a dress that had something a little different and quirky about it, but still wanted it to feel bridal. In a previous job I’d worked round the corner from Halfpenny and had walked past it most days. When Harry and I got engaged I knew that I wanted to try on Halfpenny dresses as the ones I’d seen fitted my brief perfectly.

“I went to Halfpenny with my mum (who was surprisingly excited given her general lack of enthusiasm for dresses) and one of my bridesmaids. I instantly fell in love with the Andrea corset. It was so beautiful but unbelievably comfortable. I decided to stick with that and try on the different skirts on offer. They were all incredibly dreamy and beautiful, but there was something so special about the Swan. I felt like I hadn’t seen anything similar before, yet it wasn’t so out there that it didn’t look like a wedding dress. Bridesmaid Becky encouraged me to try on a sash, which I had originally been against (I was worried that I’d look a little bit too much like a little girl at first holy communion), but it brought the top and the skirt together perfectly.”

These gorgeous images by Him & Her Photography are so full of love and laughter!  I absolutely adore them and you can see the full gallery over on Love My Dress here.

Congratulations Leah & Harry!  We wish you all the very best in your new adventures together.

Love,

Kate & the Halfpennys xxx

Gorgeous Gill | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Lovely photographer Andreu Doz first shared these lovely pictures over on facebook and I knew I had to repost them.  How amazing does Gill look in our Charlotte gown?

Gill and Chris brought their friends and families all the way from Scotland to celebrate their big day in Catalunya, Spain.  Their ceremony was at a gorgeous venue (Casa Felix) and their guests marvelled at the lovely setting, the food and, of course, how gorgeous Gill looked.

Their day went off without a hitch and just to make things even better, it was Sant Joan, the longest day of the year and a magical night of celebration in Catalunya and, more importantly, Chris’s birthday!

Congratulations to the lovely couple and thank you so much to Andreu for sharing these lovely pictures with us.  See more on his website here.

So the cat's out of the bag!  Did you see the gorgeous Millie Mackintosh and Hugo Taylor tied the knot at the weekend?  I worked with Millie to design her dress and she looked absolutely amazing!!  Can't wait to share more over the next few days.

In other news we had the last weekend in Whitstable before we sell the house and it was bittersweet.  We have so many memories there and I'm so sad to see it go but also excited to move to our new home soon.  Of course I've been on a Pinterest binge of inspiration for the new place...  How about this amazing bathroom??  I get inspiration from so many different areas and interiors have always been a huge passion. We haven't had a project in a while so looking forward to getting my teeth into it!

Until next week...

Congratulations to the happy couple.  May every day be as fun and love filled as your gorgeous wedding day!

Today has been so busy as I'm juggling work and family life so gotta run!

Beautiful Kristy | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Beautiful bride Kristy has the best married name ever...  Who wouldn't want to be known as Mrs Wild!  The change in name influenced the theme of the wedding and I love the woodland setting!

Kristy was lucky enough to find her dream dress in our sample sale.  She booked an appointment as soon as she heard and left with her dress in her hand, a very happy bride-to-be!

"I chose the classic Iris dress. I wanted a timeless dress that I knew I could look back on in years to come and still love. The Iris did that for me.  As soon as I put it on my sister started to cry. I looked at myself in the mirror and I started to well up which hadnʼt happened yet.  I knew it was the one for me."

"I had wild flowers which included eucalyptus and greenery, wax flower, gypsophila, white ranunculus and thistles in the bouquets. I wore a flower crown with small white roses, wax flower and greenery and my bridesmaids had smaller versions but with pink wax flower to match their bridesmaids dresses. In the evening I took off my lace part of the dress  and partied and danced the night away in my silky Halfpenny slip with a pearly belt round my waist.

Two dresses in one!"

I'm totally head over heels for Kristy in her Iris Classic Dress and this epic woodland setting.  Simply gorgeous!

Huge congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Wild!  We wish you every happiness in the world!

I celebrated a special anniversary last week.  Five incredible years ago I opened my dream magical little shop on Woburn Walk, Bloomsbury in the heart of central London.  I can’t believe how quickly time has flown!   I'm so lucky to love my job and have the dreamiest team by my side.

A lot has happened in five years...  My little boy Sylvester was born, we started wholesaling the collections and now work with so many epic stockists!  We’ve opened a second store across the road as the design Atelier and production studios, we’re selling in territories we could have only dreamed of and working with more and more incredible brides and buyers and clients every day.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this epic journey, I’m no one without the immense support of my husband, family, friends and incredible team.

Happy anniversary!

Gorgeous Antoinette | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Beautiful bride Antoinette and her lovely new hubby tied the knot in May last year.  Their ceremony was incredibly romantic surrounded by their family and friends.

Antoinette had her eyes on a particular outfit on our website before coming to see us and it turned out to be very close to her final aisle style.

"The skirt I originally loved on the website looked too busy with the top I had chosen. I needed another skirt! Fortunately there were plenty more gorgeous pieces to choose from.  I tried on and loved the Lola skirt, which finishes just below the knees. My dream outfit was complete!  I knew I wanted lace in my dress, and the Annabel Lace T-Shirt with its sleeves ticked all my boxes. When I saw the Lola skirt and how it matched well with the Lace Tee, my outfit was complete."

Antoinette finished off the look with a Tilly Thomas Lux belt and a soft updo and she looked utterly perfect!

Congratulations to the happy couple!  We wish you every happiness in your new lives together.

Oliver & Christian | Our Wedding Dress of the Week

Kate HalfpennyComment

I'm so excited to share the first wedding dress of the week from the new Fly Me to the Moon collection

I'm so in love with this combo...  The Christian skirt is designed to be worn over a slip or dress to totally transform the look.  That’s one of the things I love most about designing!  That ability to transform an outfit in an instant by layering different pieces and the beauty of my designs is that you can mix and match between any collection making a totally unique look for each bride.  The Oliver dress is devastatingly elegant on it’s own and the addition of the skirt and Daniel top are perfect for a fashion forward bride.

Stunning Laura | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Beautiful bride Laura married her new hubby Oliver in August last year.  Their ceremony was held at the magnificent Bodleian Library in Oxford and my jaw hit the floor when I saw these pictures.  Firstly, Laura looks totally stunning and, secondly, would you look at that venue?!  That ceiling!

Laura had a great idea of what she was looking for before she came in to see us and Daisy dress ticked all the boxes for her.

“I wanted a dress that was simple but elegant, and not be restricted by corsets or heavy skirts. I visited several wedding dress shops in London but couldn’t find what I wanted, until I discovered Halfpenny. There were so many dresses to pick from but I fell in love with the silk chiffon fabric of the Daisy dress. It moved so beautifully when I tried it on and with the deep V back and cross over front it was perfect. I chose to add lace cap sleeves and a simple belt.”

These stunning pictures by Becky Harley are truly exceptional as they capture the intimacy of the couple and their lovely moments together and also the majesty and scale of the setting.  Check out the full gallery over on Love My Dress here.

Congratulations Laura and Oliver!  We wish you all the happiness in the world in your new lives together.

Have you seen the brand new Fly Me to the Moon collection yet?  Check it out here if not!

Fly Me to the Moon celebrates femininity in all its unbridled glory. Understanding that a woman can be full of exquisite contradictions, I wanted to play with the concept of gender conventions and what it means to be feminine in 2018 with an exquisite edit of interchangeable separates and dresses.  These pieces have my DNA in every stitch and I've also named each one after a prominent or influential man in my life!   Check out the gorgeous new Oliver dress styled in four different ways below.

Until next week...

Beautiful Heather | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Stunning bride Heather married her gorgeous groom Darryl on the 28 October at the Craigellachie Hotel in Speyside.  The epic Scottish setting inspired the couple's big day and I love the autumnal colours they brought in.  Heather came to see us in our Bloomsbury boutique.

“When looking for my dress, Kate Halfpenny was the only boutique I wanted to visit. I thoroughly researched and within the Halfpenny range I loved so many different styles, I was convinced I would find my dress here so I booked an appointment and travelled to London.”

“The Kate Halfpenny boutique is just beautiful and was an incredible experience. My stylist Alexia picked out five different styles I had described. The first few that I tried and expected to really love were just not quite right. I then stepped into the Susie skirt with the Thea slip and was instantly in love. In this moment, it made me feel like the bride I had envisioned. It felt pretty and romantic.”

“The tulle, the appliquéd flowers, the movement of the skirt with the simple slip balanced the look perfectly and was so me. I felt the skirt also matched the autumnal feel of our wedding. I felt amazing…and comfortable. My experience with Halfpenny was a dream from the minute I walked into the boutique until I received my beautifully wrapped dress. I cannot recommend them enough.”

This is why I lOVE my job soooooo much!  Look how happy she is.  She's radiant.  I feel so lucky to have played a small part in Heather and Darryl's special day and we wish them every happiness in the future.
