Daffodil | Our Wedding Dress of the Week

Kate HalfpennyComment

Our new Daffodil dress is super popular already with the bride that wants a simple chic alternative to a strapless gown.  The off the shoulder shape is so flattering and the twist adds just the right amount of detail without taking away from the simplicity of the silhouette.

Daffodil is available with a fitted or fuller skirt, or as a top and a separate, beautiful skirt.

Beautiful Jess | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Beautiful bride Jess married her new husband Nigel in April this year in a relaxed ceremony at North Cadbury Court.  The couple wanted their wedding to feel like a house party.

"Everyone was roaming around everywhere enjoying the house and grounds at North Cadbury Court. We decorated the ballroom where we ate with liberty print table runners, giant balloons and tons of gorgeous flowers, which felt colourful and fun. I just loved seeing everyone having a good time."

"I visited a few places in London and got an idea of the styles that seemed to suit me. It was fun testing the waters and trying on heavily embellished dresses, huge princess dresses as well as some sexier ones too! But I did tend to be a little disappointed by the quality of the fabrics, which led me to the beautiful styles at Halfpenny."

"I was welcomed at the boutique by Izzy who was so relaxed and genuine and I just felt comfortable immediately. I was a bit like a child in a sweet shop wanting to try everything on and did need to be held back a little! There was one particular dress I had seen on Instagram, which I was desperate to try, and it did feel so special actually wearing these beautiful gowns that I’d been wondering about since getting engaged."

Jess chose the Lizzy skirt and Iris cami with the Iris lace jacket and a silver belt and we love her entire wedding day look.

"To be honest I never really had that lightning bolt moment everyone tells you about finding your dream dress - I tried on so many gorgeous outfits in Halfpenny and wanted them all! I loved the swing of the Lizzy skirt, which felt full without being enormous, and the simplicity of the cami let the belt and skirt do the talking. The beautiful fabrics just looked stunning and knowing it was going to be made for me was really special."

Huge congratulations to Jess and Nigel!  We wish you every happiness in your new adventures together.

Lovely Martha | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Beautiful bride Martha and Alastair married on 30 May 2016 in an informal yet stylish ceremony overlooking the dramatic coastline at Hotel Raya, on the tiny Isola di Panarea, just north of Sicily.

Martha chose our deliciously elegant Thea dress with a broad sash and she looked utterly stunning.

“I actually wore it for our UK wedding with a different jacket. I loved the glamorous but relaxed feel of the dress and the heavy material. It felt amazing to walk and dance in.”

These images by Thierry Joubert are giving us serious wanderlust so check out the full gallery over on Love My Dress.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!  We wish you every happiness in your new lives together.

Beautiful Meredie | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Our beautiful bride Meredie married the man of her dreams in March this year in a cosy, romantic ceremony filled with love.

Meredie chose our Iris Rose dress worn over a blush slip.

"From the moment I walked in the store I was welcomed with open arms from the beautiful Izie. The attention to detail, friendliness and reliability was outstanding.  I was lucky enough to meet Kate herself when I picked the dress up and that just topped it all off for me.   I find Kate’s vision, love of exquisite detail and friendliness so inspiring and exactly the sort of place I wanted to have an experience in! Relaxing, easy-going, inspiring and fun!  - definitely got me excited for what was to come!"

"I chose the Iris Rose because it had just the right amount of detail and I loved the lines that it created.  I didn’t have the white dress rather, the blush because I loved the shimmer of the colour from under the tulle when I walked.  It created this beautiful silhouette.  I also loved the capped sleeves which were flattering.  I didn’t intend on having any other pieces however, when the gorgeous Marilyn tied the thick silk belt around my waist which gave me a waist and had a brilliant bow at the back I couldn't go past it!"

Meredie completed her bridal look with a copper and dusky pink flower crown to compliment the blush in the dress and we think she looks gorgeous!

Congratulations to the newlyweds and we wish you every happiness in your new adventures together.

Gorgeous Kate | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Our beautiful bride Kate married her husband Shaun in March last year in a relaxed, stylish wedding day with pretty, modern touches.

"From the moment I walked into the gorgeous vintage-style Halfpenny boutique in Bloomsbury, London, I felt so excited and fell in love with so many of Kate’s dresses! I had been admiring many of Kate’s dresses online for weeks. Mum and I had such a fun day visiting bridal stores in London. Halfpenny was our last visit and the icing on the cake. Isobel was so welcoming, friendly and calming. Trying on dresses can be a nerve-wracking experience, but she really put me at ease. The whole experience from start to Finish was absolutely perfect. I felt so looked after and choosing my dress felt very special and personal. I loved the whole process and can’t praise Kate Halfpenny and her team enough."

"In the end I was totally torn between the dresses Iris and Esme. I really couldn’t decide! But, at the last minute and second (maybe third!) try-on, I decided on the beautiful Esme. It definitely had the edge for me and I couldn’t get it out of my mind. It felt like the perfect dress for me. So elegant and timeless with a modern edge. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I fell in love with the embroidered organza oral overlay and low back, just perfect. It was a dream come true. I chose a long Halfpenny London veil to match."

We love these gorgeous images by Maryanne Weddings.

"The day went by so quickly and in a very happy and excited blur for us – like a dream, but we now have the most beautiful collection of images to remember the day forever. From artistic romantic shots to funny and cheeky shots of our guests, everything was covered. Mary-anne’s photography really captured the joy and happiness on the day."

Congratulations to Kate & Shaun and thank you to Kate for the lovely words!  We wish you all the very best in your new adventures together!

This week we had the gorgeous Mariko Kuo pop into the boutique to try on some of her favourite Halfpenny London pieces.  She looked utterly fabulous in the Dita beaded corset and the Susie skirt.

Since we expanded across into No.9 we've been able to create lots more space in the boutique. We've now renovated the gorgeous extra fitting room downstairs at No.10 to give our beautiful brides more space to twirl around in their dream dress!  Can't wait to share it with you!

Stunning Alice | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Beautiful bride Alice married her new husband Stuart in a stunning winter ceremony last year. Alice braved the freezing cold in her Halfpenny London bridal separates so Jacqui McSweeney Photography could capture the most beautiful golden hour portraits and Jacqui captured the entire day perfectly.

Alice paired our Dita lace corset and Dita tulle skirt to create the wedding outfit of her dreams.

"As soon as I got engaged I began searching the internet for the perfect wedding dress, I really wanted something a little different. Which is when I stumbled across the incredible Kate Halfpenny. Every dress in Kate’s collection is drop dead gorgeous, romantic yet contemporary. I became obsessed with Kate’s dresses (and still am!)

"Luckily I found out that Kate Halfpenny’s collection was stocked in Leonie Claire, a beautiful boutique right around the corner from our flat in Brighton!  When I visited Leonie Claire I fell head over heels for the dita skirt and top. I loved how the corset tied in a knot at the back and how the gorgeous tulle skirt cinched in my waist perfectly."

"Stu and I went for dinner at The Red Barn and knew straight away it was the perfect venue. The Red Barn is a country pub with a 300 year old barn attached to it. It really is the most gorgeous country pub, with old beams in the roof, low ceilings, lots of nooks and crannies and a huge old fireplace in the main bar. There is also a huge floor to ceiling book case at the far end of the barn which makes the barn really special. Stu and I are both country bumpkins at heart so the pub was perfect!"

We love everything about Alice and Stuart's beautiful big day and we wish them every happiness i their new lives together.  Congratulations you two!

Kate & the Halfpennys xx

Beautiful Chloe | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Beautiful Halfpenny bride Chloe tied the knot in April this year in a stunning seaside ceremony in Tulum, Mexico.  The couple chose a small, boutique hotel, Nest, on their favourite beach as the setting for their intimate yet luxurious rustic wedding.

Chloe chose our Iris classic dress after my sister had treated her to our Brides Magazine reader event at the Ritz in May 2016 where she picked out the Iris Classic as her favourite!

"I first came to Halfpenny with my Mum and sister one evening; the shop is beautiful, just like the dresses, and the whole experience was great. On my second appointment, I was lucky enough to meet Kate, which was a fabulous way to make a decision on THE dress! I chose the Iris Classic dress with Iris Slip and narrow satin belt because it felt modern, yet vintage and romantic in style. I fell in love with the detail, the low back, the drop waist, the satin buttons… The lightweight fabrics were essential for getting married in a hot country and the tulle made it feel like something special (which looked great on the sand!)

"I felt completely myself in it. The dress seemed to echo my personality. This was also the only dress that my Mum and sister, who came with me to most of my bridal appointments, got emotional about seeing me in (but, importantly, I didn’t know this until afterwards, so it truly was meant to be!)"

Chloe decided against wearing a veil and chose to wear a beautiful flower crown instead. She chose an elegant, organically shaped bouquet of peonies, Davis Austin roses, spray roses and ranunculus which completed the romantic look perfectly.

Congratulations to the happy couple!  We wish you every happiness in your new adventures together and thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures with us.

Gorgeous Natasha | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Our stunning bride, Natasha, married the love of her life in April this year.  Despite having a church wedding, the couple chose to have a more relaxed feel to their day and we love the laid back elegance of their lovely wedding.

Inspired by a vintage photo, Natasha dreamed of wearing a feathered skirt on her big day but struggled to find one until she visited our boutique.

"I knew I didn’t want anything with corsetry or boning and I didn’t want anything too traditional. Or strapless! Or tight! And I wanted something comfortable that I could wear with flat shoes because I am not a heel wearer and am clumsy at the best of times!! I once saw (and bought!) a photo of a feathered wedding skirt when I was young in a postcard shop in the middle of nowhere. So I had always thought that would be cool, but when it came to looking for a dress I couldn’t find anything like that anywhere and kept being told by other stores that feathers went in and out of fashion a few years ago so I would never find this… But then I found Halfpenny!! So really as soon as I clocked the Swan Skirt in your store it was never really going to go any other way!

"As soon as I walked in [to the boutique] I realised I loved Kate’s style and this made the experience pretty different from all the other places I had gone which carried multiple lines – as I liked pretty much everything in the Halfpenny store!! I also loved that Kate herself was sometimes there in the store so I got to meet her personally which was a super exciting and special touch!! The whole experience was FAB from start to finish – thank you so much!"

Natasha completed her bridal look with a stunning Tilly Thomas Lux headband and we think she looks incredible!

Congratulations to the happy couple!  We wish you all the very best in your new lives together.
