Last week was so exciting as I was finally allowed to share the new Standing on Stardust collection with you.  Thank you so much for all the lovely feedback.  I'm so happy you love the new pieces as much as I do.

I'm currently in the US for some trunk shows with some of our lovely stockists and having a mini break with my family while I'm here.  Sylvester is having an amazing time!  The video below melts my heart!

Until next week...

Stunning Lizzy | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Our beautiful bride Lizzy tied the knot in April last year.  They didn't have any particular theme but the Art Deco style of their venues influenced the overall style of their wedding and their only wish for the day was that their guests had lots of fun!

"I went to about four boutiques before coming to Halfpenny London.  They were all much bigger and stocked lots of different designers, and though I didn’t have a horrible time in any of them, none of the dresses were made in the UK or made to measure, the staff didn’t seem too attached to the designs or dresses and it didn’t feel very personal – but of course Halfpenny was totally different!   I first came to Halfpenny on my own, and I left feeling like I’d just gone dress shopping with one of my best friends.  You get the perfect mix of feeling amazing and an honest response from the lovely ladies in the boutique."

Lizzy chose our Antonia dress and it was the perfect choice for her city wedding.

"I chose Antonia because it was simple and elegant and the weight of the material made me feel so glamourous.  And it was a bit swooshy when you dance, which was nice!"

"The designs are just stunning – I think for the modern bride who isn’t usually really, really girly, but wants to look amazing on her wedding day, they are perfect.  And the fact that your dress is made for you downstairs was really important to me.  My dress literally fitted like a glove."

We were so happy to play a part in Lizzy's special day and thrilled she found her perfect wedding dress in our boutique.  Congratulations Lizzy & Matt!  We wish you every happiness in your new adventures together.

Standing on Stardust | New A/W17 Collection

Kate HalfpennyComment

I'm so pleased to unveil our AW17 ‘Standing on Stardust’ collection!

Inspired by the hedonistic club scene of 1970’s New York, the new collection is an intoxicating celebration of intricate beading and powerful silhouettes. Bold heavy duchess satin trousers are teamed with a provocative structured corset; embroidered silken bees adorn the neckline of an open back silk organza top whilst skirts are embellished with dreamlike feathers and sequin details. I've used sumptuous silks, exquisite laces and incredibly detailed beading and embroidery with a focus on strong silhouettes and cutting edge techniques.

As always,  all pieces are hand made in London.

View the full collection here and let me know what you think!

Kate & the Halfpennys xx

Beautiful Charlotte | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Gorgeous couple Charlotte & Rich married at the spectacular Chateau de la Motte Husson, in France.  Their wedding was full of nods to their British roots - like the delicately embroidered handkerchief favours.

To complement her Halfpenny London dress, Charlotte wore Jimmy Choo shoes and her hair was styled in beautiful soft waves.  We think she looked utterly gorgeous!

Congratulations to Charlotte and Matt!  We hope you enjoy your amazing new lives together.

Kate & the Halfpennys xx

Beautiful Vivien | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Our gorgeous bride Vivien married the man of her dreams in August this year.

"We wanted to have a whimsical, English country wedding.  We wanted it to be an intimate affair with only family and close friends.  Ross is a chef so the food had to be divine but good hearty real food."

"Halfpenny was the first and only dress shop I visited.  Having gone wedding dress shopping with many other friends, the experience could be quite overwhelming which so many dress styles available.  Often it was left to the bride and friends to decide on which style suited them.
I specifically went to Halfpenny having seen a specific dress in a magazine.  I picked it out but Isobel, with her experience picked out Vera for me as she thought it would suit my figure perfectly.  It was a very different style to the ones I had chosen but she was spot on.  It looked AMAZING on and was not a style I would have picked out for myself at all.  I was very grateful for Isobel’s experienced eye in choose wedding dresses to suit the bride."

"I picked Vera because I looked so beautiful in her.  We worked perfectly together.  She didn’t drown me out nor take centre stage – she just complimented my figure, my look and my style.

"Everyone just said how beautiful I looked in the dress.  I know. I know -  everyone says that to the bride but I actually felt beautiful in the dress and super comfortable.  I loved how she moved and flowed.  Vera is the most comfortable dress I have ever bought."

Congratulations Vivien!  We wish you and your new husband every happiness in your new adventure together.

Gorgeous Robyn | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Beautiful bride Robyn married her lovely husband Tom in August in an outdoor wedding at Bignor Park in West Sussex. The ceremony was in a walled garden followed by drinks on the lawn then dinner in traditional pole tent.

"Halfpenny was my first stop. I went to one other shop after that just because I felt I should! I feel like I’d already decided on Halfpenny long before having seen all your beautiful dresses. I’d obsessed over the ones on the Bethnal Green Town Hall website.  Being the only customer there is a big part of the experience. I love that part of town also having lived there when I first moved to London."

Robyn chose the Susie skirt with the Iris slip for the ceremony then changed into the Virginia Jacket for the evening.

"I tried to resist the jacket as long as possible, but in the end I succumbed and I had to have it... it has the same name as my mum after all. The fact that I had 4 outfits on the day was purely a bonus (skirt/slip, slip/jacket, slip/jacket/skirt & slip only for the dancefloor). A very high maintenance bride I was!"

"I can’t pin down why I knew it was the dress. I just loved it from the moment I put it on. It was so casually elegant. Fashions fade, style is eternal. I think that is what Halfpenny is all about."

Alongside her beautiful wedding band and engagement ring - both antique 1930s pieces - Robyn's finishing touches were a headband from Isobel Hind, rose gold and green amethyst earrings. Her something borrowed was a rose gold signet ring with a Victor Hugo quote, ‘love is the flower for which life is the honey’ belonging to her sister.

We love these images by Babb Photo.  They capture the feeling of Robyn and Tom's day perfectly. Congratulations to the happy couple!  We wish you all the happiness in the world!

Love,

Kate & the Halfpennys xx
