We gave you a little glimpse into the boutique this week with a look at how our expert seamstresses make the epic Riri skirt.  Over 40 meters of silk organza is cut into over 120 circles and layered as frills. It takes around 100 hours from start to finish to construct, fit and finish. The end result is a dreamy frothy light beautiful skirt.  One of my favourites!

Here are your favourites from the past seven days.

Until next week....

It's been another hot day here at the boutique.  I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend.  I spent it at the coast with family and it was a wonderful way to recharge ready for this week.

Last week was an interesting time of self-reflection.  My instagram post below goes into more detail but I'm going to focus on myself and continue to surround myself with positive energy.  I love what I do and I will continue to do what I do best and do it without comparison.

So... Until next week...

Love,

Kate & the Halfpennys xxx

Having just been to visit Sylvester’s new school for September and being blown away by the incredible teachers and pupils we met whilst there it made me reflect on my self, one thing it made me want to obliterate from my life is the way I have alway compared my work to other peoples, to other brands and designers and measuring my successes by theirs. It’s a strange negative energy and this quote totally sums it up... I’m proud of my work, I design instinctually, I love what I do and I will continue to do what I do best and do it without comparison. Happy Bank lolodays! It’s scorching down by the coast! . . . . . #quotes #instaquote #londonbride #weddingdresseslondon #halfpennylondon #coolmantic #britishbridal #bridalwear #fashionbride #coolbride #halfpennybride #citybride

Stunning Kate | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate Halfpenny2 Comments

Stunning bride Kate and her new hubby tied the knot in December last year in a glamorous ceremony with an industrial edge.

After trying on an incredible 150 dresses before coming in to see us, Kate had almost given up trying to find a dress!  It's not surprising she felt quite stressed and wasn't enjoying her experience but I'm pleased to say that all changed when she walked into our boutique.

"Alexia was so warm and welcoming, she took time to listen to my ongoing saga, even getting to know me a little before proceeding to make recommendations.  I felt so comfortable and at ease, it was how wedding dress shopping should be…a wonderful experience!"

Kate had in her mind she was looking for a Boho style dress, however that all changed the minute she tried on the Cheryl dress.

"When Alexia suggested it at the beginning I said no as I was thinking I wanted something more bohemian, and when she suggested it a second time I said no again.  On the third suggestion, she convinced me by saying she really felt it would flatter my figure and I would look amazing in it. Because we had got on so well and I trusted her, I said yes. And of course, she was right, after trying on around 150 dresses I had found the one.  It was a testament to her experience to be able to look at me and actually know my style better than I did!  I should have listened to her sooner.  I felt drop dead gorgeous in it!!! Like a Hollywood film star. Damn I LOVED it!"

Reading those words in Kate's email made my heart soar.  She looked epic but, more importantly, she felt epic.  And that's why I do what I do...

Huge congratulations to the happy couple.  We wish you every happiness in your new lives together.

Love,

I've just had another whirlwind weekend at my friends' wedding in France.  It was such an incredible day and hubby and I had a great time seeing everyone.  Then, it was a mad dash to get back to our little Sylvester who I missed terribly.

This week, I'm excited to be meeting brides-to-be and some potential new buyers so the boutique is busy!  We're also hard at work prepping some new pieces for Net-A-Porter which will drop this summer...  More on that soon!

Until next week....

Gorgeous Katja | A real Halfpenny London bride

Beautiful bride Kajta married her new hubby Al in a stunning snowy ceremony in the Alps.  Unfortunately, the couple's UK based wedding photographer was snowed in by the terrible Beast from the East snow storm here so the couple thought they'd have to go without a photographer. However, the brilliant Wild Connections Photographer stepped in at the last minute to save the day!

Katja chose our Isobel corset and Swan skirt for her big day and I'm in love her style!  Katja's amazing sense of fun came out when she made an entrance on a snow-mobile!  I absolutely love these gorgeous pictures and you should check out the photographer's blog to see more.

Huge congratulations to Katja and Al!  We wish you every happiness in your new adventures together.

Shadow Jacket | Our dress of the week

Kate HalfpennyComment

We all know that UK weather is unpredictable at best and winters can be bitterly cold.  Having said that, winter weddings are absolutely magical but what do you do if you want to stay warm on your big day without compromising your aisle style? The Shadow coat is the perfect solution!  Decadent, chic and (more importantly) toasty warm.

Shown here with the River top and skirt, the coat can be cinched in at the waist with the leather belt or worn open.  Love!

I'm still smiling from the weekend of glorious sunshine.  It really does make a huge difference to everyone's mood.  London is a happier place when the sun's out.  Today it's back to work, feeling refreshed and inspired to start designing some gorgeous new pieces.

Here are your favourite pictures from last week. Did you catch the throwback gorgeous Millie Mackintosh shared?  She looked epic in our Cheryl dress at a Lancome event in Monaco last year.  Just beautiful!

Until next week...

Bay | Our Dress of the Week

I'm obsessed with the 3D flowers on the gorgeous Bay skirt.  The detail on the blooms is just magical!  Shown here worn over the Iris dress, the skirt can be lined or unlined and can be paired with one of our delicious tops to suit your own style.

Stunning bridal inspiration shoot by Beatnik Bride and Benjamin Wheeler,

Kate HalfpennyComment

I'm totally in love with this stunning bridal inspiration shoot by Beatnik Bride and Benjamin Wheeler featuring our Dita beaded corset and Dita skirt.

From Rosie the stylist: "This shoot was inspired by Dutch painter Rachel Ruysch who focused on painting beautiful wild floral arrangements on flowing fabric runners. We both had the pleasure of working with Ben before our respective wedding businesses began. Our paths still cross in fashion, but it is truly a privilege to work with him on weddings.

He’s got an incredible knack for natural light and manages to turn such simple moments into the most romantic scenes. Ben found the amazing location and really captured the narrative running through the styling and floristry with his photographs.

We asked Frida to work with us on this shoot as her floristry skills are true works of art! In a romantic but also run down setting, the colours of the 18th century town house brought the images together. Grand floral displays in urns and detailed arrangements added texture to the rooms, with natural light spilling in from the windows. Candles were a big part of this shoot too, we scattered them throughout the house and across the tables for a warm vintage feel.

For the outfits we wanted to mix bold jewellery and embellished dresses with floral veils to show our love for accessories and to give the shoot a modern twist. We wanted to prove that colour and texture isn’t to be afraid of when it comes to styling your wedding outfit."

Good morning!  My mum and I landed back in the UK this morning after an epic weekend in New York for bridal market.  New York was absolutely magical! We rented a gorgeous house in the West Village and it was so amazing meeting the new and current buyers. What a trip!  I'll do my best to keep the jetlag under control and see you next week!

Beautiful Claire | A real Halfpenny London bride

Beautiful bride Claire married her lovely hubby Will in a winter wedding at Morden Hall in London.  The couple chose a rich yellow colour scheme which looked incredible in the golden winter light they were lucky to have on the day.  Claire chose our sequinned Chloe dress and she looks amazing in it!  I love her choice of veil and that gorgeous updo.

I love these gorgeous images by Benni Carol Photography.  Check out the full gallery on their website here.

Congratulations Claire & Will!  We wish you every success in your new lives together.

I'm pleased to say that I'm finally feeling a bit better after the run of bad luck we've had recently.  I'm still a little bunged up but it doesn't matter because I'm so excited to head to New York for bridal market at the end of the week.  The Halfpennys are getting everything together and we'll see you soon NYC!

Before I go, here was our week in pictures...

Beautiful bride Claire and her gorgeous new husband Dominic turned New Year's Eve into the best night of their lives when they tied the knot at the Tithe Barn in Hampshire.

Claire chose to wear our Celine sequinned camisole and skirt on her big day and it suited her down to the ground!  I make no secret of the fact that I love sequins so Claire is a woman after my own heart!

I adore these images by David Weightman of Married to My Camera.  They capture the fun of the day so beautifully.  Thank you David for sharing these gorgeous images with us!  Go and check out the full gallery over on his website here.

Congratulations to Claire & Dominic.  We wish you all the very best in your new lives together.

Luka | Our Dress of the Week

Kate HalfpennyComment

Our wedding dress of the week is the ultra modern Luka.  Actually a skirt and top made entirely from leather it's perfect for a contemporary bride who is looking for something different to wear on their big day.  The yolk of the skirt is super flattering and the stiffness of the leather lends its self perfectly to creating that gorgeous shape.  Pockets are the finishing touch!

Good morning!  I hope you all had a lovely Easter break.  I’ve had a sick boy on my hands for a few weeks.  My poor Sylvester got the chicken pox then a secondary infection meaning a trip to A&E. Then, James got scarlet fever and I got a virus so it been a rather hectic crazy week but we’re excited to say we’re all recovering.  Sadly, it did mean that I wasn't able to be in the boutique during London Bridal Market which was a huge shame but my amazing team of Halfpennys held down the fort and the feedback has been incredible.  Thank you so much to all the lovely press and buyers who came to visit us.  We’re so excited to announce new UK and European stockists and can’t wait to go to New York!

Until next week...

Beautiful Sara | A real Halfpenny London bride

Kate HalfpennyComment

Beautiful bride Sara married her gorgeous hubby Jean at Material Culture in Philadelphia in September last year.  Material Culture is an art, antique, and hand crafts emporium.  Built in 1920 and occupying a former train station, it offers a spectacular setting for a wedding. The towering ceilings, generous expanses of glittering light, and galleries adorned artwork from around the globe make it delightfully quirky.  I love it!

Sara wore our Georgie skirt and Lenny cami on her big day.  The high-low hem and gorgeous pleats of the Georgie skirt looks amazing teamed with the organza trimmed cami.  Sara looks fabulous!

Thank you so much to Ian at Viva Love Photography for sending through these beautiful pictures.  Wishing Sara and Jean every happiness in their new lives together.
