Gorgeous Megan | A real Halfpenny London bride
Our beautiful bride Megan and her lovely new hubby tied the knot in a rustic, colourful ceremony in December last year. The couple took inspiration from Petersham Nurseries in Richmond and added a South African twist to the proceedings.
Halfpenny London was the very first wedding dress shop Megan visited and I was lucky enough to work with her to find her dream dress. She knew she’d found the one when she left the shop smiling!
“Meeting Kate was an absolute dream – I was nervous and self-conscious as my style is often quite androgynous, so the idea of wearing lace and frills sent chills down my spine. Kate made me feel so relaxed and put me at ease, cracking jokes the whole appointment through. I knew that I’d found the right dress and had such a wonderful experience that no other brand or dress would compare.
I chose the Max high straight neck cross back slip dress because I LOVE the neckline, it is so modern and so fresh. Plus, the cross back made me feel feminine without overdoing things. I wore it with the gorgeous feathery Maribou skirt and the Rafe twist back top and customised the Max dress to be shorter, just above the ankle. I was most drawn to the Ostrich feathered Maribou skirt as it reminded me of growing up in South Africa – Ostriches are a regular sight and it felt like a piece of home.
I practiced a few dance moves in the changing room, so I knew I had the flexibility to bust a move. But seriously, I knew this was my dream dress because I felt comfortable and at ease – I knew I could spend all day and night in it without feeling like I was playing dress up. It was very ‘me’ – especially when we shortened the length to modernize it even more.”
Megan’s stunning bouquet was made up using South African wild flowers – proteas and pin cushions. I love the handmade head band made by Megan’s mum and those gorgeous Gucci sandals. She looked totally stunning and I’m thrilled she chose to wear Halfpenny London on her big day.
