Stunning Anjana | A Halfpenny London bride

Beautiful bride Anjana and her new husband Jack tied the knot in July last year. The style of their wedding fell into place as soon as they found the venue: The Barn at Botley Hill.

“It was the perfect mix of modern and rustic,” Anjana said. “We also wanted to bring in elements of my family’s Sri Lankan culture which we celebrated through colourful sarees, traditional baila music and Sri Lankan ‘love’ cake. We incorporated a lot of personal touches too – my aunt made the wedding cake, my mum made the ‘love’ cake and Jack’s mum created all of the wedding stationary.”

Anjana had been looking for her perfect wedding dress before visiting our London flagship boutique but she felt that she hadn’t yet found the one that made her feel like herself.

“None of the dresses really felt like me. They were either too traditional or drowned my shorter frame. Before arriving at the Halfpenny boutique, I had looked at various styles online and the Harbour dress really stood out to me. I’d been wanting to try an off the shoulder dress but didn’t want a corset bodice. On my first appointment, I tried the Harbour in the matte finish and the Palm veil. I really liked it but I wasn’t ready to make the final decision so booked a second appointment to go to alone. At my second appointment, the stylist was amazing and made me feel completely at ease – going wedding dress shopping alone can be daunting but now I’d recommend it to any bride wanting to make sure they are choosing the right dress for them. I tried on the Harbour dress in satin this time, and paired it with the Lily skirt and completely fell for the look.

I found my Sri Lankan outfit first, a lehenga, which had a full skirt so I always knew I wanted the dress to be more of a fitted style. Between my Halfpenny appointments, I had seen a bride from the blog wearing the Daffodil dress in satin with the Lily overskirt and that’s what gave me the idea of pairing the Harbour with the Lily skirt. The dress hugged me in the right places and the overskirt added that touch of elegance. I also loved how the satin caught the light. I can remember the stylist saying how comfortable and effortless I looked in the outfit while holding a glass of bubbles - which is exactly how I felt. Unlike many of the other dresses, this felt like me, just a more glamorous version!”

My brides inspire me so much and I just adore that you all inspire each other with your gorgeous styling choices. No doubt Anjana’s beautiful outfit will inspire countless other brides!

Huge congratulations to Anjana and Jack. Here’s to a lifetime of love for this gorgeous couple!

Love,
