Gorgeous Sally | A Halfpenny London Bride

Lovely couple Sally and Joe Morgan celebrated their love with an elegant castle wedding in Spain last summer. I adore this venue with that exquisite detail in the arches, and those dramatic doors! Such a venue calls for a very special dress, but Sally had an unexpected surprise which put her dress search on hold!

“I visited a couple of boutiques when we first got engaged and tried on some lovely dresses,” Sally said, “but what I didn’t realise at the time was that I was actually pregnant with our daughter! I had a favourite but I wasn’t fully convinced, and when I found out I was expecting I put dress shopping on hold again until after the baby arrived.”

How lovely for Sally to have such great news! Once Sally’s daughter was born, she decided to begin her search again.

“9 months later I was quite apprehensive about trying on more wedding dresses, as my daughter was just four months old and I felt like my body had changed quite a lot. I was lacking in confidence and sometimes felt like I didn’t even recognise my shape anymore. However, from the moment I arrived at Woburn Walk with my mum, the excitement really set in. The street and the set up of Halfpenny itself is so quaint and beautiful, it has a real aura of wedding magic permeating through. As I set foot in the boutique and was offered a glass of champagne, I really hoped I would fall in love with a dress there, as it felt such a special place.

Our stylist was extremely knowledgeable, whilst being supportive and warm at the same time. She took a real interest in me and my experiences with my daughter, which meant a lot. We talked about my change in shape and the fact I wanted to try on lots of different styles to reacquaint myself with my body.

Before I tried on the first piece, the stylist gave me one of the most valuable pieces of advice anyone gave me throughout my wedding planning process and I really hope all brides have something similar said to them. She told me that whatever dress I chose for my wedding day should be one that I felt absolutely beautiful in today, not just one that I felt had the ‘potential’ to be beautiful if I were to change certain things about my body before the wedding day. This really resonated with me, and I could feel a shift in my attitude towards finding a dress that suited my body completely shift.

From then we had a great time at the appointment. I tried on so many beautiful two pieces and different dresses and accessories and felt so relaxed in all of them. I marvelled over the different textures, fabrics and styles of every single dress I tried.”

There was one dress in particular that felt very special to Sally, so special that she knew she’d found the one.

“Before I stepped out of the dressing room to show my mum the Oak dress, I was completely overwhelmed by how the fabric felt. I had tried on beautiful dresses before, but the Mikado of this dress felt so luxuriously buttery, yet so light and easy to move in at the same time. I had never worn a piece of clothing like it – and probably never will again! My mum’s expression confirmed what I knew – this was the dress! We had an unexpected emotional moment and it just felt perfect in so many ways. I loved the bow at the back, the box pleats in the skirt, the phenomenal fabric, but most of all it made me love my body again – something I didn’t expect to happen this early on.

I knew after trying on the Oak dress that I didn’t want to try on a single other wedding dress, so mum and I met dad for coffee (on Woburn walk of course) called and cancelled my other appointment that day and for the rest of the week. The three of us then went and had such a special moment purchasing the dress, it really was a day none of us will ever forget!”

Clothes have power and there’s nothing like finding the right outfit to fill that well of confidence and self-love. How wonderful Sally found her perfect dress in our boutique. She looks incredible, truly stunning, and I’m over the moon she came to visit Halfpenny London.

Congratulations to the lovebirds! Loads of love for all their new adventures.

Love,
