Lovely Alex Light | A Halfpenny London bride

I have a very special wedding to share with you today. Beautiful bride Alex Light has been a friend of the brand for a while - check out our Instagram Live here and listen to our conversation on Alex’s podcast here - so I’m thrilled that she chose to wear not one, but two Halfpenny London looks for her big day!

Alex and her new husband, Dave, celebrated their love just last weekend and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on these beautiful images by The Curries. The pictures are brimming with joy and love and I could have looked at them all day.

The couple wanted their wedding to have a wintery feel and opted for lots of fairy lights, candles and green foliage against the backdrop of their venue: a beautiful historic English house. Alex saw the Okotan corset, Ellie skirt and palm veil on Instagram and knew that was the exact look she wanted.

“My experience at Halfpenny London was absolutely wonderful – I was drawn to their ethos of the dress fitting the bride, rather than the other way round. They appreciate that brides come in all different shapes and sizes and rather than ‘fix’ or ‘hide’ that, they embrace it – and I really felt that in my appointment. There was no pressure to look a certain way; the team just genuinely wanted me to feel good, and that made for an incredibly positive experience. The boutique itself is beautiful and a wedding dress appointment there just feels magical – I left the appointment feeling so excited about walking down the aisle in a Halfpenny creation.

I’m a huge fan of off-the-shoulder styles, and I love a corset style, too - both really complement my curves – so when I saw the Okotan top on the Instagram page, I instantly fell in love. And trying it on did not disappoint – as soon as the team zipped it up and I took a look in the mirror, I felt a million dollars!

I paired it with the Ellie skirt, simply because it is an absolutely stunning style that I knew I needed for my wedding day – it’s one of my all-time favourite Halfpenny creations. I paired my look with the Palm veil – super long and very dramatic, I felt that it was perfect for our grand venue. As soon as I looked in the mirror, I knew that was it! I felt amazing in it, but I also felt like me – something that was important for me. It was elegant, classic, timeless and I knew I didn’t need to try anything else on – I literally said yes there and then!”

Alex switched up her outfit for the reception, changing into our fringed Ivy skirt to dance the night away. She looked incredible in both outfits and I’m so pleased to have played a small part in this joyous celebration.

Huge congratulations to Alex and Dave! We all wish you all the love in the world!

Love,

Kate & the Halfpennys xxx
