Beautiful Emily | A real Halfpenny London bride

I’m so happy to be able to share this gorgeous wedding with you today. Beautiful bride Emily captured our hearts and we fell completely in love with her during her appointments. The couple said ‘I do’ in September last year in a relaxed ceremony in Devon, taking decor inspiration from the dried flowers that the restaurant venue (Riverford Field Kitchen, Devon) had hanging from their walls.

Emily looked AMAZING in our Iris slip and Peter cape. It was the perfect choice for her and I’m totally thrilled she came in to see us in our Bloomsbury boutique.

“I had only tried on a handful of wedding dresses before coming to Halfpenny. I had been following the brand on instagram for a little while (I love a wedding, so was already a fan a few years before I became engaged). I just knew that they would have the style of dress I desired. All my appointments with Halfpenny we wonderful experiences. The lovely stylist really listened to my thoughts and desires in the first appointment and let me try on the most amazing dresses.

The sleek and contemporary cut of the Iris slip dress with the contrasting and beautiful polka dot Peter cape were just magical together. I tried on quite a few dresses at Halfpenny, all equally as beautiful but as soon as I put on this combination I just felt overwhelmingly happy. I adore Florence Welch and her unique style. The way she floats whimsically across the stage and as soon as I put the Peter cape on it just made me feel carefree and magical. I always wanted a dress that minimal and chic (less is definitely more) with something a little unusual and unexpected. My sister and best friend attended the first appointment with me and I distinctively remember them saying my face just lit up and my whole body language changed when I first tried the dress and cape on. I swooshed around the showroom feeling utterly fabulous yet completely comfortable, it was exactly what I had dreamed of.

I loved the element of surprise when it came to my fashion choices growing up and yearned for my wedding dress to include this but in a non-fussy way. I always envisioned myself having personalised embroidery incorporated into my wedding outfit, a piece that could be passed down as a modern day family heirloom that other generations could add their own individual embellishment too. I imagined a veil but when I saw the cape I knew that it would be perfect! The Halfpenny team were incredible at making this dream a reality and helped me to contact a fantastic independent embroiderer.

I struggled to find a hairpiece and didn’t feel I could wear a veil with the cape. I tried and tested multiple pieces but just couldn’t find one that suited my style and didn’t want to distract from the dress. I saw a hair tie on instagram but couldn’t find one in the exact colour of silk of my dress. I sent the image and my idea to the wonderful team at Halfpenny and they created me the most gorgeous hair tie in exactly the same fabric as my dress, it worked perfectly.”

Emily was such a dream to work with and I gasped when I saw her stunning pictures. I always say it but I really do have the best job! I’m so happy that Emily chose to wear Halfpenny London on her big day. It’s such a massive honour for brides to put their trust in us.

Huge congratulations to the happy couple! Wishing you all the love and happiness in the world.

Love,

Kate & the Halfpennys xxx
