Gorgeous Caroline | A real Halfpenny London bride

Beautiful bride Caroline and her new husband, Rob, had planned a big wedding this autumn but, like so many other couples, Covid got in the way. They decided to put their plans on hold for now and celebrate their love for each other in an intimate ceremony which was broadcast on Zoom to their friends and family.

“Due to postponing our 'big day' I decided to keep my 'big dream dress' on hold - at the time it was important for me to not take anything away from the day planned and saw this as an exciting opportunity to have fun and 'tear up the rule book'. This said, I also didn't want to lose the magic that was originally created for our original wedding day so I went back to the Halfpenny London boutique to investigate how many 'non-traditional' bridal options there are out there. At the forefront of my mind it was key for me to wear something I could re-wear again and again.” - Caroline

Caroline stunned in a selection of our bridal separates, opting for our Henson trousers, Raf top, and our dreamy Christian organza overskirt which reflected some of the drama in her original dress.

“I had always planned on wearing Manolo Blahnik's blue 'hangisi' shoes which I had bought for the original day but added a further hint of fun within the Shrimps pearl tiara and handbag. I wanted it all to sum up my personality, and as this was such a personal wedding I felt like I didn’t have to follow any rules.

After my first appointment at the Halfpenny London boutique, I knew Halfpenny London was the designer for me. I loved feeling so welcomed by Kate and the team and will cherish the memories of how they listened to my initial thoughts and then proceeded to add the WOW factor. The options in terms of styles proved endless and I felt spoilt rotten for choice! I can't wait to re-wear parts of my bridal look again and again! Thank you so much Halfpenny London!” - Caroline

Caroline and Rob really did make the most of an intimate wedding and I hope their experience inspires others who’ve had to change plans and are concerned that having a small wedding won’t feel as special if they had hoped for something bigger.

“Living in such times of uncertainty and not willing to delay completely, we began to plan a smaller, family-orientated wedding that would enable us to celebrate our love with our nearest and dearest. Fundamentally, we realised we just wanted to get married, and that was the main drive behind re-planning a smaller wedding. The day surpassed both of our expectations. It was hard to know quite how the restrictions on our planned wedding were going to impact the day, but it was filled with so much joy, love and laughter. With the year everyone has had, and the limited opportunities to create memories with those closest to us, celebrating a wedding really was the best way to lift everyone's spirits. It was especially amazing to see our families spending time together and enjoying becoming one unit. We were both overcome with emotion due to the sheer amount of love we received and has caused a huge turnaround to how we will look back on 2020 in years to come! I have heard from so many brides who have had big weddings that they barely had time to speak to everyone and regretted it afterwards, this way we got to spend quality time with everyone.

”I completely welled up with emotion just before I walked into the ceremony with my dad - due to lockdown measures constantly changing it was crazy to think we'd fought off so much to make it happen. We'd finally made it! On the morning of the wedding we created a zoom link for relatives and friends that were unable to join us and once I was at the end of the aisle we both looked across to the laptop and saw everyone waving - it really did feel like they were there with us in this super personal moment. Seeing the outpouring of love from those who were unable to join us meant the world and left us ALL teary eyed! Wouldn't have changed a thing!“ - Caroline

I’m so happy Caroline and Rob decided to go ahead and celebrate their love. These images truly captured the love and joy of the day and it was such a pleasure to work with Caroline on her outfit. She is truly a dream Halfpenny London bride.

Congratulations you two!

Love,
