A stunning Halfpenny London bride chose a fit and flare dress with a silk organza shrug for her destination wedding in Mexico.

Beautiful bride Madeline Conway married James Darenkamp last summer in a stunning destination wedding in Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico, gathering 65 of their closest friends and family to celebrate with them.

“We wanted to bring everyone together from different cities for a weekend long party in their special place,” Madeline said. “James grew up 90 minutes outside of Valle de Guadalupe, and had taken me there on our first trip after one month of dating. The wedding took place at Bruma, a winery and small eco-luxury resort, where we went on that first trip and many times since.”

The couple focused on the things they love most - music, family, and delicious food - filing their wedding with personal touches. During the ceremony, a string quartet played instrumental versions of their favourite songs, Madeline’s younger sister officiated, and James’ sister walked him down the aisle. Guests enjoyed a multi-course, family-style meal at one long table curving around a 100 year old oak tree, and instead of a cake, carajillos were passed out to all guests to get them ready to dance through the night.

“I’d been to a few boutiques in LA and NYC before I went to The One Bridal in Brooklyn and found my Halfpenny dress. I wanted something really unique but still timeless and elegant. As soon as I tried the Oliver dress and Issa shrug, I knew I had to have it! Sue at The One Bridal was so helpful in putting together my look.

Having the option to take the Issa shrug off (which I never did!) to change my look was exciting, and the Oliver was so comfortable I knew I could sit and dance, and still look great in pictures! I ended up being so comfortable I never even changed into my after party look! I took a bunch of pictures and when I went home to think about it, that was the one I couldn’t get out of my head. It was so fun and elegant, flattering and comfortable, and totally unique from what I’d seen before, it really checked all my boxes.”

Madeline finished her outfit with Attico Devon mules in white and a pair of Dorsey emerald earrings. She looked utterly incredible and I’m over the moon she found her dream Halfpenny London wedding dress at The One in Brooklyn.
