Beautiful Jodie | A Halfpenny London bride

Beautiful bride Jodie and her new husband, Jon, said “I do” in September last year. Jodie’s works in Event Production and it was really important to her that the day reflected the couple’s personality. The day had a relaxed, easy going, fun vibe, with a ten piece band, Elvis impersonator, tables named after their favourite celebrities and tributes to their two sausage dogs snuck onto the stationery.

Jodie came to see us in our Bloomsbury boutique, looking for the dress of her dreams.

“I always knew I wanted something a bit different and always had Halfpenny in mind as I loved the idea of mix and matching pieces to create your dream outfit. My appointment was lovely – I was lucky to be able to go before the pandemic and brought 2 friends with me. In the boutique, there were so many things to look at and play with. I did go in thinking I’d fall in love with the Riri skirt but when I saw the tasselled Ivy skirt it changed my mind straight away.

I always knew I wanted a cape. Why not, it’s my big day and if there’s ever a time you can wear a cape..! I didn’t want a veil so the cape was my veil. I also knew I wanted to have an off-the-shoulder top and so that’s why I went with the satin one. It’s flattering to my shape and was the look I wanted. The skirt was the thing that threw me as I didn’t have any idea and always assumed I wanted a big skirt. I tried on the Riri but it wasn’t right, then tried on another flowy big one and it wasn’t me either. I tried on the Ivy and just loved the way the material moves and, most importantly how it felt when having a dance.”

Jodie’s final choice of Ivy skirt, Harbour top and and Oscar cape looked incredible and was the perfect choice for her.

“I knew it was the one because I just felt lovely in it. It ticked all the boxes. It was unique, functional, dreamy, a fab hybrid to what I always thought I’d like vs what I really felt when I was in the position and making that decision. It was also really important to me to have an outfit I could have an amazing time in after the ceremony - so as soon as we did our first dance the cape was off and I was wiggling and waving all over the dance floor! I had so many compliments on the night, everyone said how amazing it was and some said it was the best wedding dress they’d ever seen.”

Huge congratulations to this gorgeous couple! We’re so happy Jodie found her dream outfit with us and these beautiful pictures by Alessandra Merlo captured the day perfectly.

Love,
