Stunning Rosie | A Halfpenny London Bride

Happy new year! It’s the Halfpennys’ first week back in the office and we’re beginning 2023 by sharing the gorgeous celebration of Rosie and Will Rees who tied the knot in May last year.

“It was very important to us that our wedding felt relaxed and that it reflected us as a couple,” Rosie said. “We went for a romantic style with lots of flowers, candles, blush pinks and sage greens. The food was all rustic sharing platters so that it felt laidback and sociable. It was magical and the venue (Botley Hill Barn) absolutely nailed our brief!”

Rosie’s wedding dress search started off on the right foot as she was already very familiar with the process of finding the perfect outfit before she’d even made an appointment in our London flagship boutique.

“I am lucky enough to have two older sisters who went before me. I had the pleasure of perusing different wedding dress shops with them before it was my turn, so I had a bit of an idea of where to start and what I may want and what I knew I didn’t. My second sister got her dress from Halfpenny, and ever since experiencing the shop with her, I knew it was first on my list. Halfpenny is the first place I went to, and the first dress I tried on was the dress I wore on my wedding day.

Wedding dress shopping is completely bizarre and surreal. Most people have never worn anything quite like a white wedding gown in their lives, and it is hard to know where to start. Halfpenny London made me feel completely comfortable and at ease straight away. The shop is on a cool, classy mews which all feels very ‘London’. I went along with my mum and sister and we had the best time. The stylist was so warm, friendly, helpful, and importantly not at all pushy. We drank champagne and quickly settled in to the whole experience. Every dress I tried; I would have been more than happy to wear on my wedding day. The dresses are all so stunning, and its extremely fun trying different combinations and accessories. No other wedding shop compares!”

It’s so wonderful to hear that Rosie - and her sister! - enjoyed the experience with us. It’s such a beautiful moment watching a bride try on the dress and see the change in her. Every woman’s experience is different and Rosie didn’t know what to expect.

“I am not a particularly dressy, girly girl, so found it hard to picture my ‘dream dress’ before starting the process. I didn’t have much of a pre-conceived idea of what dress I wanted but had an idea I wanted an ‘off the shoulder’ style, as this suits me and reflects the sort of clothing I wear in daily life. As soon as I tried on the Harbour dress, I fell in love. I love the sleek, simple elegance of it. The fabric is stretchy satin which is incredibly flattering and gives the dress a beautiful pearly shine. The neckline is off the shoulder which I personally love. To me, the dress perfectly combines classy and elegant with relaxed and romantic. I loved how the material felt on, it is clearly so beautifully well-made. I loved that it didn’t feel too stiff, bridal or white, but pearlier and more modern, whilst still elegant and classy. When I walked out of the changing room to show my mum and sister, I could tell from their faces they agreed. It was the one!”

What a stunning wedding to start off the year! Huge congratulations to Rosie and Will and we wish you so much love for your new adventures.

Love,
