Stunning Kate | A Halfpenny London bride

Beautiful bride Kate married her new husband Fraser in a romantic, elegant city wedding in Glasgow last November. The ceremony was in the Glasgow City Chambers with its sweeping marble staircases, frescos and satinwood panelling. Inspired by the marble, Kate chose white for her bridesmaids’ dresses, which contrasted beautifully with Fraser and his groomsmen in traditional tartan Scottish dress.

“We followed our ceremony with a meal in one of our favourite restaurants,” Kate said, “and continued the party at another gorgeous venue nearby.  With the wedding falling at the start of the party season we encouraged our guests to dress up with the theme ‘More Is More’.”

Kate was very set on her bridal outfit after seeing it online and made a visit to our London flagship boutique.

“The Halfpenny team were so welcoming and attentive at the boutique and made my Mum, sister and I feel really at ease.  They had picked out the styles I had highlighted prior to my appointment and had also chosen some other amazing options for me to try. Being surrounded by all of the beautiful dresses and separates was a dream, I could have easily spent all day looking through the rails and trying different combinations!

I chose the Okotan Corset and the Ellie Skirt. I had always loved the idea of separates and being able to build a look and to wear pieces again. After seeing the outfit together as part of the ‘Unveiled’ collection (before we were even engaged!)  I knew it was perfect for me. I love the romance of the draping and the train with the clean lines of the skirt and the beautiful Mikado silk fabric.

Before I had even looked in the mirror or seen my mum and sister’s reactions in the boutique I knew the outfit was perfect.  That wonderful sense of calm and comfort you get when you put on clothing that is completely ‘you’. The silhouette and neckline were just perfect and I was completely in love with it.”

I’m overjoyed that Kate had such a great experience with us and thrilled she found her dream wedding look. She completed her look with our double tier, satin trim veil and a pearl headband, switching these out for an evening look of a padded, satin headband from Bluetiful Milano and pearl earrings from Shrimps. Kate also created the bouquets, with help from her mum and sister.

“I wanted romantic, bold stems with lots of different scale and shapes to create elegant and slightly wild bouquets.  We went to the flower market in Glasgow and after falling in love with the velvety deep red Baccara rose I built the design around them selecting lots of my favourite stems such as waxflower, clematis and eryngium. My bouquet was extra special as it also included an orchid as this is my mum’s favourite flower, and narcissi grown for me by my Grandmother.”

Huge congratulations to Kate & Fraser! We all wish you every happiness in the world for your new adventures together.

Love,

Kate & the Halfpennys xxx
