Gorgeous Juliette | a halfpenny london bride

Newlyweds Juliette and Fred celebrated their love last July with a modern, elegant, traditional English garden wedding with their own, personal twist.

Juliette was looking for a dress which would stand out in the couple’s stunning venue, St Albans Cathedral, and had already had a peek inside our boutique.

“I had visited a couple of other boutiques and found a couple of dresses that I loved,” she said, “but having been to Halfpenny for my sister’s wedding dress, I knew that the fabrics and designs were on another level to anything I had seen in another shop. I was determined to wait until I had been to Halfpenny before I made my choice.

I visited the Bloomsbury shop at the end of the Covid restrictions so I was only able to bring one guest with me – my mum. However, Summer made sure that the experience was still totally special and exciting. Summer was excellent at reassuring us whenever there were concerns and made me feel very at ease. My mum and I were both amazed at the beautiful dresses in the shop – the textures of the fabrics were so gorgeous and opulent. The whole experience was magical.

My mum suggested that I try on the Mayfair dress as she felt it had the drama and elegance that would fit the stunning surroundings of St Albans Cathedral where I would say my vows. I had tried on the Charlotte dress as I knew I wanted an A-line style and off the shoulder; however, that dress really didn’t suit my shape. As soon as I tried on the Mayfair, I knew she was the one!

When I saw myself in the Mayfair I simply could not stop smiling and laughing. I had never felt so beautiful. The fabric was exquisite – so light and delicate – unlike anything I had tried on before. I felt I was in couture. The shape was flattering on me – and had the neckline I wanted. It was a modern expression of a classic idea of a bridal gown which fit the image my husband and I wanted for our wedding. It felt so ‘me’ – my mum had noticed it because she felt it mirrored some elements of my own personality – as soon as I tried it on, I knew she was right. It felt so ‘me’ – but the very best version of myself.”

Juliette completed her look with a cathedral length veil – very fitting for the stunning setting – and jewellery which was gifted to her mother from her late father, or gifted from other members of her family. She looked utterly stunning!

Making women feel like the very best version of themselves is my mission in life so I adore hearing that Juliette felt like this. What a privilege it is to be able to work with my wonderful brides!

Huge congratulations to Juliette and Fred! Here’s to countless happy years together.

Love,

Kate & the Halfpennys xxx
