Gorgeous Elleri | A Halfpenny London Bride

Beautiful bride Elleri Mary Burden-Hughes and her new husband Duncan Burden said “I do” this August and were keen to have their wedding celebrate their half-British and half-American heritage.

“We wanted our day to be filled with the traditions of an English-countryside wedding and the fun of a USA bash,” Eleri said. “We wanted classic florals with bold colours – lime green and white and personalised accents throughout, including embroidered napkins and hand painted name cards. As we sat for dinner, the formalities were over. Milkshakes for dessert, garage and hip hop set from our amazing band, The White Keys, and slushie spicy margaritas and a mac ‘n’ cheese bar for late night food.”

Elleri already had her eye on a Halfpenny London wedding dress, and there was one in particular she loved:

“I always knew I wanted a Halfpenny Dress and actually had my eyes set on the Dahlia from the start. Covid restricted a lot of the shopping around ability which helped me concentrate what I wanted. I knew I always wanted a timeless dress with a lot of structure. Going into Halfpenny with my mum right after lockdown was overwhelming for sure. It’s such an idyllic location and the dresses are just awesome in the truest sense.

As mentioned earlier, I saw a picture of the Dahlia and knew that it was the one. I knew I wanted something timeless and elegant. Something grand but not OTT. My non-negotiable was the bow. The Dahlia ticked all of these boxes. The atelier team worked with me on finding the perfect fit and making me feel totally comfortable and princess-like throughout.

On the slightly less fairytale side, personally, the thought of standing in a white dress with loads of people looking at me made me feel very anxious and for months, I didn’t see how I could ever look nice. The dress I chose had to fit me perfectly. The panelling at the front of the Dahlia meant that it was super flattering while I was still able to have volume and a train at the back. The straps were not only beautiful but for the first time in my LIFE it meant that I didn’t want to wear a bra. I knew it was the one because it was love at first sight!“

Elleri looked utterly sensational! She completed her look with her mum’s engagement ring and veil from her 1992 wedding (details I adore), and Lily and Roo earrings.

I’m delighted Elleri joined our tribe of Halfpenny London brides and we wish her and Duncan a long and blissfully happy marriage!

Love,

Kate & the Halfpennys xxx
