Beautiful Cate | A Halfpenny London bride
Beautiful couple Cate and Evan Case said ‘I Do’ this summer in a sun-soaked celebration on a Californian ranch. Cate is based in San Francisco but when she stumbled upon Halfpenny London online during her wedding dress research, she knew she had to visit our boutique.
“Before visiting Halfpenny London,” Cate said, “I spent many months looking for a dress that would be unique, timeless and comfortable. It felt like I was often trying on the same dress in slightly different cuts, and none had that balance of statement but classy that I was looking for. I stumbled on Halfpenny London on the internet when I thought I wanted a big tiered skirt. Discovering the website and all the Halfpenny collections was amazing. It was finally the refreshing play of timeless but unique pieces I had been looking for! There were no stockists near me in the San Francisco area, but I miraculously was planning to visit family in London and was able to plan a trip to Halfpenny London. The quaint street, the beautiful atelier, and the Halfpenny team that helped me is really a favorite memory from the pre-wedding process.”
I designed the Cliff as part of the Atlantis collection and adore its pleated silk organza frills and tiered lace panels. For Cate, it was love at first sight.
“When I saw the Cliff Dress on the website, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I loved that it looked like so much fabric, but also so light with so much fine detail. When I put it over the Iris Slip, it was an instant yes. The Iris Slip was comfortable and just the right amount of sexy. The Cliff Dress made me feel artsy and cool, and I love how it is somehow both vintage and modern at the same time.
It is funny to say it, but I knew it was the one because I just remember the ah-ha moment in the Halfpenny atelier. We had to delay our wedding by two years due to COVID, and luckily I was still just as excited by the outfit all those years later. I felt gorgeous in it!”
Cate looked incredible and I’m in love with her choice of accessories: Manolo Blahnik shoes, and jewellery which was all heirloom pieces or borrowed from the many mothers in her life. How serendipitous that she was able to visit us at exactly the right time and found exactly what she was looking for. It was clearly meant to be.
